If you know where is Sweet Temptations (the famous Chinese sweet dessert a.k.a. Tong Sui in Penang Sg Dua), Jeff & Wind is just a door away featuring western delights in the same neighborhood. Registered in our radar only a few months back, this eatery is established in a residential block next to Yellow House right opposite Tesco Extra Sg Dua.

Born with a nature to explore, we decided to give it a shot on last weekend. We arrived with four hungry stomachs and rushed into this Penang restaurant as soon as we parked our car. Getting a parking lot is not a breeze in this neighborhood but we were lucky.

The moment I walked into this restaurant, its interior reminds me of the eateries in Tokyo. Cramp, desperate, minimal personal space. And I smelled of the food and oil in the air, means room to improve for better ventilation in an air conditioned setting. To our surprise, two-third of the space in Jeff & Wind were taken by family groups.

On a simple red menu, Jeff & Wind serves absolutely western cuisine. Burgers, sandwiches, spaghetti, grills/fried stuff, cheese baked rice and finger food such as sausages, fries, nuggets and wedges, they made their home here. That's said, we however were a bit disappointed when our choices were repeatedly mentioned not available for that day.

In the end, we opted for Stuffed Chicken with Kimchi, Cheese baked rice with chicken, Fish & Chips and Chicken Chop.

This dish Stuffed Chicken with Kimchi (RM9.90) sounds unique at which savory spicy kimchi is filled in the chicken prior to deep frying. The serving however did not look as appealing as its name. Though it is a good portion, neither too large nor too small but it would be much better if the chicken was less oily.

Fish & Chips (RM8.50) - The deep fried fish with breadcrumb gave us the impression that they were thawed from the frozen pack. Not recommend.

Chicken Chop (RM8.50) - Another typical western cuisine that we rated average. Nothing special.  

Chicken Baked Rice (RM8.90) - This was perhaps the best of all we had. Chicken was tender and rice was perfectly cooked.   

Does Jeff & Wind offers value meals for your money? If you're looking for western food that is cheap and good, then perhaps some hawker center vendors in Penang are likely to do a better job. To us, there is nothing to boast about the food neither the service nor the atmosphere. What do you think if you had been there? Tell us your experience.
