Penang Indian Restaurant

If you're looking for an authentic Indian food in Penang restaurant and vegetarian diet is a must, look no further. Head straight to Annalakshmi. Be happy cows in hearts, we were glad to revisit Temple of Fine Arts at Babington Avenue in George Town after several years.
Temple of Fine Arts Penang @ Annalakshmi Indian Restaurant
Temple of Fine Arts Penang - center for traditional Indian dance
Temple of Fine Arts not only serves as a venue for traditional Indian dancers to flock, it also houses an Indian vegetarian restaurant within this pleasant premise.  Fondly known as Annalakshmi, the eatery is a great spot to sample Indian vegetarian food in Penang particularly you're new to this robust flavors. Upon arrival at the entrance, Temple of Fine Arts certainly doesn't look like a place to dine, but not anymore as you walk further behind the stage into Annalakshmi.
Chapati to all kind of spiced rice, plus curries
With at least 10-15 of tables, they welcome diners with lunch and dinner buffet. Compares to a decade ago, the green lawn was tiled up giving way to more dining tables. It is more spacious today but I still miss the lawn area whereby kids were spotted playing and exploring nature.
Clean and relaxing
Served an array of Indian dishes, they are perfect for vegans. From chapati (flatbread), white rice and spiced rice, curry of many variety, soup, vegetables, papadam, dessert, lassi, these are among the common foods on their self-service counter. You may also get mango lassi upon request. Be your own host, pick your table, help yourself with everything from cutlery to food or drinks, and dine like you belong there :).
Served on stainless steel tray
Buffet available on Saturday and Wednesday and pay as you wish. Opening hours are from 11:30 am through 2:30 pm and 6 pm through 9:30 pm, from Tuesday to Sunday. Take note that this Penang Indian restaurant doesn't allow outside food particularly non-vegetarian. Expect aplenty spices, hot flavors in extreme and meatless!
