Of Chinese origin, Ramen is more popularly known as Japanese noodles. Ramen, as pronounced in Chinese/Mandarin means "pulled noodles" are commonly served in Japanese  restaurants in today's food arena.
Teriyaki Chicken Ramen (RM9.50)
The taste of ramen in Tokyo still lingers in my mind. And that brought us to explore QQ Ramen House near USM at Sg Dua in Penang.

Tucked away in the Yellow House (Vanda Business Park) commercial block, QQ Ramen House is just a few doors away from Pelita Nasi Kandar 24 hr Restaurant. As the name suggests, QQ Ramen House offers a variety of ramen. Be it the flavors of the broth, there are at least a handful ranging from hot, spicy, savory, tangy apart from the 'dried' ramen. Both are served with choices of protein fix such as pork, chicken, seafood, fishcake, egg and vegetables as well. The next best thing of the ramen's companion is gyoza (jiaozi) or sometimes is referred as Japanese dumpling although originally a Chinese dish. Good that QQ Ramen House keeps them on their menu too.
Jiaozi or Gyoza (RM5)
It was almost a quarter to three on Sunday afternoon when we walked into the restaurant. The good news was we had the whole place for three of us. Seldom people would treat themselves lunch at 3pm but we are the special breedLaughing.

With an ulcer on my tongue, I picked a clear, non spicy broth - QQ Ramen. According to the server, it would be served with pork and egg. Perfect. Teriyaki chicken ramen captured my Signicant Other's heart, that would be served 'dried'. Interesting. We also gamed for a platter of blanched gyoza (they are called 'Savory Chicken Dumplings on the menu) for appetizer. Too bad my favorite pan fried gyoza was not in the menu.

For beverages, I opted for green tea milk tea with pearls while my SO went for honeydew milk shake.

Beverages arrived promptly, followed by gyoza. Traditionally, gyoza is served with fresh ginger and vinegar, but this restaurant paired them with chilli sauce. Strange. Teriyaki chicken ramen was good but QQ ramen did not meet my expectation. Apart from halved hard boiled egg and vegetables, I hardly bit any minced pork though their noodle portion was generous compares to other ramen restaurants in Penang.

Pleasant corner to chit chat
All of all, we appreciated their baby friendly, caring and courteous service. Baby chair was offered to us with
safety belt although we did not request for it. In addition, we like the business operation that run through the day (from 11:30am ~ 10pm) on weekends and public holidays. Pricing for a decent a-la-carte ramen ranges between RM6+ to RM10+ and beverages fall almost half of the food range.
