Kuala Lumpur 1 Utama Shopping Mall | Shogun Japanese Buffet Restaurant PDF Print E-mail

In Malaysia, Klang Valley or Kuala Lumpur (KL) offers relatively a good selection of value-added Japanese buffet. One of the Japanese restaurants that we love to go is Shogun or Saisaki.
The facade of Shogun at 1 Utama, Petaling Jaya
Located at the second level of One Utama Shopping Center (technically speaking, it is located in Petaling Jaya, Selangor), Shogun is popular among weekend crowd with family/friends while Saisaki, on the opposite is highly frequented by business or corporate folks on weekdays due to its geographical advantage in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
Juices are freshly blended without sugar
During one of our trips to KL last year, Lady Luck was with us. Saisaki and Shogun offered a promotional buffet lunch of 35%. Without hesitant, we hurried to Shogun at 1 Utama while the promotion last. I thought we were early to arrive at 11:45am but to our surprise, some folks had been waiting outside Shogun Restaurant that would only open at 12pm. As soon as it opened, almost all the corners were fully occupied. We did not have to luxurious to pick our seat instead being ushered to a tiny table dedicated for two people.
Appealing fresh oyster and Edamame (baby soybeans)
If you love Sashimi and Sushi, Shogun is the like a heaven for you. They have a huge counter serving an assortment of Shasimi/Sushi ranging from cod fish and salmon to Abalone Sushi. Besides, there are plenty of
soups to pick from including Miso, shark fin, Chinese Herbal, Tomyam and Nyonya-style sour soup.

Long queue for Beijing Duck
You are also served with some luxurious seafood like crabs, fish (cod fish, salmon, dory etc) and clams cooked in various flavors and spices. I also tried their lamb and I loved it! My Significant Other tried practically all types of fish there until he called it a day for fish!
Sake, Jinro and Beer are also available
They also offerr a good choices of tempura, fresh fruits juices (carrot, watermelon, orange, honey dew) and vegetables in fusion style. There was a perpetual queue for the sushi rolls, Beijing duck and Korean sulfur duck. Specifically at Shogun 1 Utama, they also serve an array of dim sum like prawn dumplings, meat
dumplings, chicken feet and a variety of bao (Chinese bread).
Left - Jelly fish, Right - Imitation Shark fin soup
Pan-fried salmon and vegetables
We also didn't miss out their desserts. Besides the common stuff like ice-cream, cakes, cookies, pudding, you must try their sweet soup dessert or what the Cantonese called 'tong shui'. All the selections there are our favorite, guess we were 'double' lucky! My Significant Other took some honey dew sago and mixed fruits cocktails while I opted for sweet peanut and lotus/white ungus/longan soup. They were fabulous and we loved sweet peanut soup the most!
Lanterns brighten its interior
Deep fried vegetables or Tempura - yummy!
Rows of selection, be it soup, sashimi, sushi, tempura...the list goes on!
Lamb stew and Tempura
If you ask me, I would love to go again! And remember to go with empty stomach and have a fun filled
gastronomical adventure!
