If Ayam Pongteh, Jiu Hu Char, Acar Hu, Otak-otak, Kerabu are the names that made you drool, then Nyonya Breeze is perhaps the restaurant to visit.

Located along Abu Siti Lane about 50m from the Macalister Road junction, Nyonya Breeze sits on the left if you are driving there. Bear in mind, Abu Siti Lane is a one-way street so there is no other means to access aside from Macalister Road near Red Rock Hotel.
Peranakan Cuisine in George Town Penang
Originating from Peranakan root, Nyonya cuisine is not something new to me, but something I fancy very much. We arrived early at about half past eleven and less than a handful of tables were occupied. Back in my mind, this was great since we heard this place can get pretty crowded during peak hours.
Jiu Hu Char (Stir fried jicama, carrots and dried squibs)
Ayam Pongteh - Popular Nyonya's touch!
This eatery is cozy, clean and friendly waitstaff made us felt so much at home. And so does the menu as we flipped through. It transported my mind back to good old time when Nyonya food was served daily by my late grandmother. The familiar names such as Perut Ikan, Assam Prawns, Acar Fish, Jiu Hu Char (literally means Stir-fried squibs), Ayam Pongteh, Tau Yu Bak, Kerabu, Otak-otak are among the few in the long list made me drooling!
Baby/Child friendly
Serving in family style, we finally picked Ayam Pongteh, Jiu Hu Char and Stir-fried Spinach. While I was still pondering and aiming for more, the waitstaff in a way helped us to stick for 3 dishes first. I guess she knew better the serving size. True enough their serving are very generous despite we asked for the smallest portion. I will keep my Otak-otak and Acar Hu for our next visit.
Stir-fried Spinach for my vegetable fix!
Seh Liu Chi - cold sweet dessert of jack fruits and jelly in coconut milk
Tok Panjang (Peranakan slang for long table) for a big family
To sum up, we enjoyed our first time there, waitstaff are friendly, serving are generous (proportionate to the price) except for Seh Liu Chi (I was hoping for more than traces of jack fruit and jelly floating in coconut milk!), restaurant is clean, and food is up to par for an authentic Peranakan kitchen. One may get disappointed if were to compare with their Nyonya grandmother's cooking. Nothing else can beat the familiar family flavors! And being early, we got the roof car park right at the five-foot way of the restaurant.

I went to this restaurant during my trip @ Penang. The waiters were very friendly but the food was so-so. The one who prepared drinks for us had an extremely bad attitude towards customers and it was so offending! They even mixed up our food! I would say this restaurant is overrated.
