Our exploration to the latest city mall in George Town landed us at Master Choo Kitchen. Being one of the restaurants residing at level 3 of 1st Avenue Mall, the name Master Choo Kitchen fancied us in the first place. Sounds fresh and authoritative, we then took a step closer to check out their menu.
Master Choo Kitchen at 1st Avenue - Level 3Featuring an array of tarts, dim sum dishes besides the Asian a-la-cart picks such as rice, noodles and vermicelli, Master Choo Kitchen's menu appears similar to Dragon-i and Wong Kok restaurants.
Lots of tables, minimal space to spareAs we arrived during peak lunch hours, it was full house. I guess people or Penangites generally love this eatery. Pricing is reasonable, in fact lower compares to Dragon-i while food variety, almost the same. Interior is designed far more superior than the plain Wong Kok, decorated with lanterns and dim lighting.

Holding two hungry stomachs, we picked more than a handful of dishes to try. Ice blended peanut chocolate (RM6.90) and winter melon with sea coconut (RM5.00) were our picks for beverages.
Ice blended peanut and chocolate

Above is Ipoh white coffee egg tart, cost RM1.60. I'd say it a brilliant food innovation. We like it.
Shanghai soup dumplings, xiao long bao RM5.30
The dough or skin is too thick, average.
Chee cheong fun with XO sauce RM5.90
Ipoh fishball Lao Shu Fen RM8.30
Perfectly fried, hard to get this lovely dishes in Penang. We love this the most of all.
Deep fried sweet potato RM6.00
Master Choo's Char siew sou RM2.00
Overall, Master Choo is a cozy corner, serving a combination of people's favorite. I would love to go back often though there is nothing extraordinary to shout about.
