Singapore Hawker Food Republic

Highlight of Asian culinary experience, Singapore hawker food is one of the must try if you ever been to the Lion City. The testimonies behind the Singaporeans' eating culture,  hawker meals are originated from the street vendor food that served economical meals to coolies. But today hawker food denotes the haven to some adventurous food hunters. If you are cautious to try the local crazed eateries, stick to hawker center or food court in the shopping malls.

Located at Level 3 of Vivo City Mall, Food Republic is a good locale to experiment the Singaporeans' food. Stepping into Food Republic here is as if walk you through an ancient street in China in early evening. One also gets to catch the action of how each meal is prepared from A to Z.
Favorite stall at Singapore hawker center
Less than 50 steps from Sentosa Express Station, Food Republic displays the highlights of South East Asia and beyond. Spoil of choices, Nasi Lemak, Roasted Duck, Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle, Curry, Laksa, Hainan Chicken Rice, Dim Sum, Toast and all kind of confectioneries are enough to take one for food tour. Tropical juices and local beverages are available and some drinks can be grabbed right away from the push cart. Food wise,  most of the stalls here are self-service. More than a couple of restaurants are spotted too and they only allow their own food within the premise.

Speaking of Food Republic, they have another outlet at Suntech City Mall, close to the Duck tour pick up point on the ground floor. Unlike the theme in Vivo City, if one goes there it is as if eating in a charming library. The walls are made of books, books and more books. Food stalls are neatly arrangement in rows, made it easier to pick for first timers.

Honestly, Singapore hawker food at Food Republic is one of our favorite food courts when we had our Christmas vacation in Singapore. Despite we know they may not serve the authentic dishes of Singaporean food but guess the flavor was fine and we like the atmosphere and price too.
