There is no better place to be than snapping a picture of 'I was here' at Merlion Park. Overlooking waterfront, the park is not huge but free! Getting there? MRT Raffles Place 2. Esplanade Theaters Unlikely you are going to miss this huge bug's eye if you are at Merlion Park. Make sure you stop at Imbiah Lookout and Waterfront Station. Getting there? MRT Harbour Front. 8. Wander Chinatown Never compare with other neighborhoods, Singapore Chinatown certainly has a character. The place to greet elder generations, as they watch friendly match of Chinese chess under the sun or manning stalls in Chinatown Complex. Great place to shop for inexpensive souvenirs, spot local's delicacy and try their confectioneries. Tour along Telok Ayer Street, be enthralled by the legacy of temple, shrine and mosque from the past. Eat hawker food Like it or not, this is the best way to survive on shoes string budget in Singapore unless you opt for fast food which do not reward you to experience the unique local's palette. I agree with you about the hawker centers they do provide great food at low costs, much better than fast food chains.
