Titaya's was the first Thai restaurant we visited when we lived in Austin. We were there for two occasions;  a farewell and a welcome dinner! None of us had been there before, so we decided to give it a try based on some good online reviews.
Popular among Austinites
Located along N. Lamar Blvd., we arrived about 7pm and as I walked into a dimly lit restaurant, most corners were occupied. Apparently, this place is very popular among Austinites despite that evening was a Thursday! I was excited being a big fan of Thai food and looked forward to a superb dinner.
Tom yum chicken
There were 15 of us so we went for a family-style opting for tom yum soup, several Thai dishes and a plate of fried noodles.
Spicy platter
Thai coconut soup or Tom Kha was the first dish served. Presented in traditional stove, the taste was good but there was not much ingredients except the sliced mushroom. Papaya salad somehow was too hot which had overtaken the other flavors of sweet and sour. I think we left with half untouched! I would say the Green Curry was average compared to what I have had in Thailand.

Green hot curry
Judging on the food quality over the dishes served, perhaps the taste at Titaya's had been adjusted to cater for the locals definitely not someone who loves authentic Thai cuisine. Or perhaps the dishes we ordered are not their signature dishes.
Stir-fried brinjals
Fried Noodles
A choice to live with it or to skip for a while until one has deep-craving while living in Austin!
