![]() Behind a bustling street in Bukit Mertajam suburban, May Tip Thai Restaurant resides at Lebuh Keranji, exactly taking two shop houses on Taman Mutiara's commercial block. Refer to the GPS or Google map at the bottom of this article. May Tip is a not much different from a typical Chinese eatery but I could hardly forget the rectangle-shaped of their charcoal tables. Distinct, seldom encountered in Chinese restaurants that prefer the shape of round or circle. ![]() Clueless on how to order the food, I flipped through the list of mouth watering dishes on May Tip's menu. The pictures are not attractive at all but each name rings a bell. Tomyum, Green Curry, Pineapple Fried Rice, Papaya Salad - all these simply made me drooling. My sister-in-law tried here before so she came up with great choices for all of us. With seven hungry mouths to feast, we decided for a whole fish. Made it steamed with Thai spices, it was served the last of all dishes. Do not judge the book by its cover. The fish turned up simple, looked like steamed fish of Teochew style but you'd never be confused once you take a sip of the soup. A combined of tangy-savory-hot, it went well with rice and other dishes. ![]() Prepared from whisked egg and fresh green vegetables, Thai omelet is a must try at May Tip. The crispy omelet of deep fried version, did simply amazing with the source served. Apart from in Thailand, I had never seen any others offering this version of Thai omelet. ![]() Bean sprouts sounds like a typical dish but it is truly unique at May Tip after one takes a bite. Stir-frying with prawns, squibs, carrots, bean curds and green onion, not a single mass stayed on the dish in the end of our lunch. ![]() Green curry is likewise excellent. Vibrant in colors, perfectly cooked with tender chicken and a variety of Thai spices, it was served with coconut milk topping. A good choice for us. ![]() Thai desserts are always tempting. If you pick the 'right' day, then luck takes you to savor their signature desserts. Otherwise, go with the dessert of the day like me. Tong sui or Chinese sweet soup served was generous for its ingredients. I am not sure if May Tip serves Massaman Thai curry but I'd certainly ask on my next visit soon!
