Speaking of Texas State Parks, they are usually away from city and everything is back to basic. With this in mind, spending a weekend on the park demands good planning for food or daily necessities. For one who does not prefer to plan ahead or preparation is a challenge, then Blanco State Park is a perfect gateaway!
Colors of sunset at Blanco State Park
Located two blocks away from the charming town of Blanco in Texas, this urban park provides a good option to experience a stay in a park as well as an easy to access the amenities. Convenience stores and gas stations are strategically located across the entrance of the park. A short walk or bike can take one to explore the historic town square as well.

In term of size, Blanco State Park is relatively smaller compares to other state parks in Texas, occupying only 104.6 acres but practically every area is water frontage. The focal point of the park is Blanco River and a man-made dam. Summer and swimming are a perfect match. Asides from dipping in water, hiking, tubing, boating (electric motorized), canoeing and kayaking are also allowed. Fishing is also a popular here.

Dozens of picnic tables along the river banks under the huge cedar or pecan trees attract many weekenders or day trippers. Blanco State Park is a good choice for novice campers or RVers with its good facilities (shower, restroom, electricity) and location advantage along US HWy 281 North in Blanco town.
