Tucked away in a strip of mall at the intersection of Braker Lane and North Lamar Blvd, Pho Dan is our newly discovered Vietnamese restaurant. Braker Lane serves as our most direct road to reach Austin Chinatown from home. We pass almost once every week if not every fortnightly, however I barely noticed Pho Dan until recently.  The facade of Pho Dan on Braker Lane
Walled by transparent glass, the first impression this restaurant gave me as I stepped in was simple yet spacious, clean and neat. Offering a variety of pho, egg noodle, rice with dishes in addition to numerous Vietnamese cuisine including appetizers, Pho Dan is a typical Vietnamese restaurant that serves the specialty of pho.

My first visit there was on a Sunday with a group of 16 people. The server staff was accommodating and arranged the tables together so that we could sit within our group. Within minutes, she returned to take our order one by one, attentively and precisely customized for everyone.

Less than 15 minutes later, our food arrived. The pho serving was huge, served with fresh basil, bean sprouts, lime wedges and the broth was awesome. For the same serving volume, the price of meal here is a dollar to two less than most of the pho restaurants in Austin. Moreover, I like the idea of their approach to offer serving in 3 sizes namely small, medium and large rather a size that fits everyone.

Definitely a place we are going back often!

Great review. I've always been a fan of pho. I like it when pho restaurants serve their pho in big portion. There's a pho restaurant here in Seattle and I don't know how they do it, but they have very quick service. I've done a review on them and most orders are coming out of their kitchen within 2 minutes of orders. Very quick. And their complimentary cream puff seal the deal everytime. I enjoy your blog. Great restaurant reviews...
